× Cuprocyparis leylandii (or just 'Leylandii') is a very fast-growing evergreen conifer grown for tall boundary planting and rapid garden screening. This plant will form thick, opaque walls of green within a very short time and maintains its colour and shape throughout the year.

Raised in the UK through a combo of two North American cypress species, this hybrid has become widely planted where height and speed of coverage are the utmost priority.

Left uncut, plants can reach 20m or more and broaden substantially, developing into a dominant garden feature rather than a low boundary.

Leylandii grows in nearly any soil type and tolerates exposed positions. You will need frequent trimming to keep this plant within practical boundaries.
