Ajuga reptans 'Burgundy Glow' (Bugle 'Burgundy Glow')

Bugle 'Burgundy Glow' is a perennial groundcover that is mostly grown for its striking evergreen foliage, variegated green and cream and of course tipped with leaves in an intense burgundy hue. It quickly spreads to form a dense and colourful carpet in shaded spots. In spring, it also has spikes of blue flowers that rise above the rest.

Grow this plant in partial or dappled shade, perhaps even deeper shade, with shelter, in moist but well drained or poorly drained soils. Avoid full sun and areas that dry out too quickly.

Good as a groundcover below trees or shrubs, as path edging, or even in containers, this versatile plant is a winner in many gardens. It has also been listed by the RHS as plant for pollinators, and will help to attract beneficial insects to your garden in the spring.
