Blechnum spicant is our native 'Hard Fern' - an evergreen that grows in two distinct tiers. Its ladder-like fronds spread across the ground, while stiffer fronds rise upwards from the centre. Originally found in acidic soils in British woods and moorland, it's the lime hating version of the Hart's Tongue.
