Deschampsia cespitosa 'Goldtau' is a compact evergreen grass, sporting whispy plumes of green and light gold that give a soft, shimmering effect. It forms mounds less than a metre high and wide, working well in sun or partial shade.

Deschampsia cesp. 'Goldtau' (Tufted Hair Grass 'Goldtau')

This cultivar of tufted hair grass has bright green foliage that fades to a tan brown as it matures. It's flower plumes grow to around 75cm tall. They are greyish-brown and light green, turning more bright and golden over time.

Grow this grass in full sun or partial shade, in a reasonable moisture retentive but free-draining soil that is acidic or neutral. Humus rich and acidic conditions are preferred.

This grass is good for cottage gardens, prairie-style planting, slope stabilisation, or a range of other garden uses.
