Digitalis grandiflora (Yellow Foxglove)

Digitalis grandiflora is a foxglove garnering admiration for its elegant spires of soft, primrose yellow, tubular flowers marked with subtle brown speckles inside the throats. The blooms are carried on upright stems above neat rosettes of green, slightly hairy leaves.

Preferring moist but well drained, humus-rich soil, this is a plant that thrives in partial shade, though can cope with full sun as long as sufficient water remains available.

Flowering in early to mid summer, it will usually reach 60-100cm in height, and its gentle colouring means that it blends in well with a range of different colour schemes, and can also take its place in the riot of colour in a maximalist cottage garden.
