Geum chiloense 'Mrs J. Bradshaw' also known as avens, is admired for its scarlet red blooms which flower in abundance from late spring into summer. The glowing blooms are carried on slender stems above low mounds of softly hairy green foliage.

Typically reaching 45-60cm in height, it forms tidy clumps that sit beautifully towards the front or middle of sun-soaked borders. The vibrant colour works well in contrast with blues and purples, and alongside ornamental grasses.

For best results, grow this avens in full sun, in a well-drained soil. It is reliable and fairly easy to grow, and does a good job of attracting pollinators to your garden. Deadhead regularly to promote further flowering, and divide clumps every few years to keep them strong.
