Pennisetum alop. 'Hameln' (Chinese Fountain Grass 'Hameln')

Chinese fountain grass 'Hameln' is a somewhat more tender grass that will likely need some winter protection in many areas. It is, however, an attractive structural and ornamental addition to a garden, prized for its attractive flowering plumes and arching, fountain-like form.

This perennial, evergreen grass requires free-draining conditions and a sheltered site in full sun. It can be remarkably drought-tolerant once established but cannot tolerate remaining with wet roots for any length of time.

This grass works well in relaxed and informal planting schemes, or cottage gardens - offering a softness and gentle structure. It will grow to an eventual height and width of up to around 1m.
