Penstemon 'Sour Grapes' is a charming perennial valued for its soft, purple flowers, each of which has a tubular shape, and a lighter throat. Blooming freely over a long season, it provides deep colour for a long time.

Getting around 60-75cm tall, it forms upright clumps of fresh green foliage that create a neat backdrop for the elegant flower spikes. Pair with plants with silvers and blues, and plant alongside ornamental grasses.

Grow this penstemon in full sun or partial shade, and in any soil, as long as it is free-draining and well-drained. Deadhead to prolong the flowering period and mulch in autumn for winter crown protection.
