Alchemilla mollis is also known as lady's mantle due to the way in which water pools on the leaves.

This is a hardy, herbaceous perennial with large, slightly hairy leaves and small bright yellow flowers.

Alchemilla mollis (Lady's Mantle)

Lady's mantle is a reliable and sturdy clump-forming perennial plant that has long been popular as a path-edge cottage garden plant. It is soft, hairy, rounded and scalloped leaves and little sprays of tiny yellow to lime-green flowers in early summer.

The leaves, with their fine hairs, have a velvety texture, causing distinct drops of dew or rain to bead on them, adding an additional beauty. The blooms also make useful additions to cut flower arrangements.

This is an amazingly versatile and resilient plant, that can cope in anything from full sun to deep shade, in a range of soil types, as long as the soil is moist but well drained. It will also self-seed readily, producing new free plants for your garden.
