Carum carvi (AKA 'Caraway') is a biennial herb grown mainly for its aromatic seeds - the ones typically found in rye bread. It grows to a low mass of ferny foliage in its first year, then in the second year sends up small white flowers in umbrella shapes (which are followed by the ripening seeds). The leaves and the roots are edible too.
