Choisya ternata - commonly known as Mexican Orange Blossom - is a jungly evergreen shrub grown for its attractive dark leaves and clusters of sweetly scented white flowers. Blooms appear in April and May, often with a second flush later in the year.

Choisya ternata (Mexican Orange Blossom)

Native to Mexico, Choisya ternata belongs to the Rutaceae family and produces aromatic, palmately divided leaves.

It grows to around 2m in height and spread - tolerating a wide range of well-drained soils including chalk, clay, loam and sand. It is a versatile choice for borders and sheltered spots in full or part sun.

Propagation is best done through semi-hardwood cuttings and light pruning after flowering helps maintain a tidy, compact shape.

Be aware this plant can be susceptible to glasshouse red spider mite and honey fungus.
