Hosta 'June' (Plantain Lily 'June')

This variety of hosta, or plantain lily, is a striking perennial foliage plant celebrated for its bold variegated foliage. Each leaf features a rich blueish green margin surrounding a golden-yellow centre that gradually softens to creamy tones as the season progresses.

Forming a neat, rounded clump reaching around 35-45cm in height, it adds texture and contrast to shaded borders, woodland gardens and patio containers. In the summer, slender stems rise above the leaves carrying the soft lavender flowers that bring pollinators into the garden.

Best grown in a moist, fertile soil in partial shade, it benefits from shelter from strong midday sun to protect its colouring. Water during dry spells and apply mulch each spring for vigorous and healthy growth.
