Knautia macedonica (Macedonian Scabious)

Knautia macedonica is also known as Macedonian scabious. It is valued for its deep, crimson-coloured pincushion shaped flowers carried on tall, wiry stems. It flowers from early summer well into the autumn.

Reaching to around 60-90cm tall, this perennial has a relaxed habit and form that make it ideal for cottage gardens and informal, naturalistic planting schemes. The branching stems weave naturally through neighbouring plants.

Grow this perennial in well drained soil in full sun. This is a plant that can tolerate drought well once established. Deadheading can prolong the vibrant seasonal display.
