Pulmonaria 'Blue Ensign' (Lungwort 'Blue Ensign')

Pulmonaria 'Blue Ensign' is a lungwort, with rich, vivid-blue flowers that appear in early to mid spring. The vivid blooms are held above clumps of unspotted, deep green foliage, offering a bold splash of colour and a boon for early pollinators in a garden.

Around 30-40cm tall, it forms compact mounds that are ideal for shaded borders, shrub underplanting, or woodland gardens. The early flowers are an important source of nectar for our bees.

Growing well in full or partial shade, in a moist, humus rich soil that is also reasonably free-draining, it appreciates consistent moisture throughout the growing season. Removing any tired leaves after flowering encourages fresh new growth and helps to maintain a neat appearance, though generally, very little care is required.
