Stachys byzantina 'Silver Carpet' is a cultivar of the plant known as lamb's ear for its soft, fuzzy leaves.

This variety is low-growing, ideal for ground cover. It forms dense mats that brighten sunny borders and gravel gardens with lasting texture.

Stachys byzantina 'Silver Carpet' is a distinctive, low-growing perennial valued for its dense mats of soft, silvery-grey leaves. The velvety foliage provides strong contrast and texture, making it an excellent choice for edging pathways and for softening hard landscaping.

It grows to only around 15 to 20cm in height, and spreads steadily to create effective groundcover in suny borders or gravel gardens. Unlike some varieties, it flowers sparingly, allowing the foliage to remain the main ornamental feature.

Tolerating dry conditions but not waterlogging or overly wet sites, especially in winter, this is best grown in well-drained and free-draining conditions, in full sun.
