Amelanchier lamarckii (Snowy Mespilus) is usually grown as a small tree or large shrub and features something of interest in every season. Star shaped flowers in white open in spring with its coppery young leaves - these are rapidly followed by edible purple berries in summer and fiery red foliage in autumn.
