Anemone hupeh. 'Splendens' (Japanese Anemone 'Splendens')

Japanese anemone 'Splendens' is a charming autumn-flowering perennial plant, that produces five-petalled deep pink flowers with yellow centre on stalks around 60cm high through late summer and into autumn. These flowers are held on swaying delicate stems, and add movement and lightness to beds and borders.

Reliable and long-lasting, this plant gradually grows, forming generous clumps over time. It works very well alongside other late-flowering perennials and ornamental grasses, supporting pollinators as summer draws to a close.

This varietal thrives in partial shade, in a moist but well drained soil, though it can also be grown in full sun with sufficient moisture. Avoid excessive winter wet and avoid unnecessary transplantation as this is not a plant happy to be moved around.
