Digitalis purpurea (Common Foxglove)

Common foxglove is a biennial or sometimes a short-lived perennial plant. Native to the UK, it is a favourite in cottage gardens, woodland gardens and many other garden schemes. The upright spikes of tubular flowers in pink or purplish hues create strong vertical accents in the space.

Thriving in a range of settings in full sun or partial shade, these native foxgloves do best in a moist but well drained or well drained soil. They are unfussy about soil type or pH level.

Flowering in early to mid summer, these can reach around 150cm in height - perfect for the back of a border, or tucked in among trees along woodland edges or in woodland glades.
