Euphorbia amygdaloides 'Purpurea' is a striking evergreen perennial valued for its deep purple, lanceolate foliage, that provides year-round colour and interest. In spring, it also boasts vivid lime. green bract clusters that stand out in stark contrast to the leaves below.

This is a hardy and flexible plant that can cope with partial shade, full sun, or even deep shade. It is also happy with a range of different soil types as long as they are free-draining and don't become waterlogged.

Growing to around half a metre in height, or a little more, it forms bushy upright clumps that work well in woodland gardens, mixed borders, or a range of other contemporary planting schemes.
