Helleborus niger is an evergreen perennial producing large white to pale pink-tinged flowers from mid-winter into early spring. This is the pefect plant for winter interest in shaded borders or traditional cottage garden planting.

Helleborus niger (Christmas Rose)

Often in flower during the coldest part of the year, Christmas Rose provides pollinators with early nectar when much of the garden is dormant.

Exceptionally hardy (RHS H7 rating), this plant prefers part shade and moist but well-drained soil. Conditions are optimal where the roots of this plant remain cool and soils do not dry out.

Plants may be affected by hellebore aphid, leaf miner and fungal leaf spot. We recommend the regular removal of old foliage to reduce any carryover of disease.
