Pulmonaria 'Opal' (Lungwort 'Opal')

Pulmonaria officinalis 'Opal' is a lungwort varietal highly prized for its delicate pale lilac-blue flowers which open from pink buds and gradually fade almost to white. Blooming in early to mid spring, it provides a pastel wash of colour when the garden is just awakening.

Growing to around 25-35cm in height, it forms neat, spreading clumps of green foliage that is often marked with subtle silver spotting. The decorative leaves retain their appeal long after the blooms have faded.

This lungwort, like others of the species, likes a spot in full or partial shade, that remains consistently moist and reasonably cool throughout the spring and summer. Give the plant a tidy up after flowering if you wish, but otherwise, this plant requires little care.
