Pyracantha ‘Saphyr Red’ is an evergreen shrub that develops white blossom in spring, which steadily transforms into heavy fruiting berries in autumn. The red berries of 'Saphyr Red' remain visible throughout winter, set against the dark green leaves of the plant.

This red-berried cultivar is selected for its tight habit and notably reliable berry set, which grows out of the previous season’s wood.

The taut branches lend themselves to being fanned out and fixed to walls. If desired, controlled spacing can allow light into the plant while still forming a dense visual screen.

This variety has strong disease resistance and the Saphyr series in general suffers few growing problems.

Mixed planting and boundary situations offer the opportunity for this plant to thrive. Heavy pruning in spring will keep flowering wood productive - this is a very forgiving plant.
