Salvia amistad (Sage 'Amistad')

Salvia 'Amistad' is a bold and free-flowering perennial with rich, violet-purple blooms set against dramatic, near-black calyces. Flowering continuously from early summer right through to the first frosts, it provides a long season of intense colour.

Growing a metre or a little more in height, it forms bushy, upright clumps with fresh, green foliage. The tubular purple flowers are highly attractive to pollinating insects, making it an excellent choice for a wildlife-friendly garden.

Grow this in full sun, in a free-draining soil, and provide shelter from wind. Deadhead to prolong flowering and mulch the crown in autumn to ensure reliable growth and flowering the following year.
