Skimmia japonica 'Rubella' (Japanese Skimmia)

Rubella' is particularly sought after in the wintertime, when its unique red bud clusters protrude over its foliage, offering colour outdoors at a time when few shrubs are in season. These buds then open up into stunning white flowers in spring.

This Japanese Skimmia variety naturally develops a rounded shape and should reach somewhere near ~1–1.5 m in height and spread when fully mature.

In terms of garden position and soil condition - moist but well-drained loam in part sun or light shade will support healthy growth and protect young growth from cold, drying winds.
