A graceful, architectural perennial valued for its dramatic, near-black stems and clouds of soft mauve-purple flowers, Thalictrum 'Black Stockings' is a good choice for vertical presence. It blooms early to mid summer.

Getting to around 1.5m to 1.8m in height, it forms clumps of finely divided, blue-green foliage that provide delicate texture below the tall stems. The contrasting dark stems and gentle flower colour create an eye-catching display.

This perennial requires consistent moisture, and is best grown in a fertile, moist but well drained soil in full sun. or partial shade. It is best to provide support in exposed locations.
