Thymus vulgaris (Common Thyme) is a dwarf evergreen shrub with dark grey-green foliage and small pink or white flowers in early summer. Best grown in sunny spaces, it works as a culinary herb, low-growing ornamental plant or even as ground cover.

This compact Thyme produces masses of nectar-rich flowers that draw in bees and other pollinators in summer.

Hardy across most of the UK (RHS H5), it's happy in either exposed and sheltered positions. A free-draining soil in full sun will offer the best conditions for Thyme to thrive.

Cut back gently in spring to maintain a low-growing habit and avoid any legginess or woodiness.
